I'm Not the Only One
Dear Journal,
This ADHD thing makes me feel different or weird. Sometimes I think I'm the only one in the world that has ADHD. My parents try to make me feel better by telling me all about famous people that have ADHD. Did you know that my favorite scientist, Albert Einstein, supposedly had ADHD? When I stop to think about it, it makes sense. His brain totally worked in a different way. That's what made him so amazing! Knowing that other people, like Einstein, have ADHD makes me feel less alone.
I'm not the only one with ADHD. In fact, my doctor told me that possibly 1 out of every 10 kids has some type of ADHD. There are about 150 kids in my grade. Ah-ha! That means that their could be 15 kids in my grade that have ADHD just like me. Get this, that means there could be about 200 kids in my school district with ADHD! I am NOT the only one!
Not the only one,
Toby
Have you ever felt like you are the only person on the planet with ADHD? Why or why not?
Do you know other people with ADHD? If so, how does knowing other people help you feel less like the only person with ADHD?
