Sorry it's been so long since I've entered anything!
I've been busy with life just like everyone else! I've enjoyed doing Q and A's at local bookstores, doing things any senior in High School might do and looking ahead to my world after High School! Here are my senior pix!!! Summer's for sure over with...the leaves are changing colors and midterm grades are already out. I just have a second to do a quick update (life is busy). I was lucky to spend a month in the the Philippines. While there, I was able to meet with families that have children with different special needs. I met many teachers and made lots of new friends. We celebrated our differences while coming to understand that we are more alike than different. I gained a new Filipino family, and many "brothers and sisters" in faith! It was a great journey! This summer I teamed with my mom to create a new workshop for KIDS called "ME AND MY ADHD!" It was a great hit. I had a blast working with kids and helping them learn to talk about their own ADHD and realize that they are not alone! I was so amazed at how every one of them said they didn't know anyone else with ADHD (hyperactive or inattentive types included of course) like them! That's crazy! Just proves my point, we need to talk more and encourage kids to talk more to each other in positive ways!!!! The summer ended with the Foreword Review Awards. I was honored to be a finalist. I wish of course I could have been named an award winner...but feel fortunate to just have been recognized. This winter, I'll be practicing my driving skills, playing in jazz band, staying up on my school work and trying to reach out and do more WORKSHOPS. Here's to a new season and new adventures! -Toby with a y Super EXCITED to be Foreword Reviews' 2014 Book of the Year Award Finalist in the JUV. NF category! This is a WONDERFUL HONOR! P.S. High School is going well! I'm especially liking my science classes! And yes, it's nice having a great mentor-Mr. D, to help me keep it all together as I learn how to do this H.S. thing in my own way! -Toby with a Y For kids with ADHD, reading Journal of an ADHD Kid is a chance to get to know themselves (and their diagnosis) much better! Toby relates his experiences coping with ADHD in an authentic kid's voice that is funny, exasperated, and proud. The book offers thought-provoking questions designed to help readers recognize how ADHD affects them and then ponder better ideas for handling difficult situations in their own lives. There's plenty of solid information and support for kids and teens.
The people at Learn, Dream, Achieve MN are fantastic!
